Margaret Drummond
Lady Margaret Drummond (* around 1340; † January 31, 1375 in Holyrood Abbey ) was Queen of Scotland from 1364 to 1371.
biography
Margaret was the youngest daughter of Sir Malcolm Drummond († 1346) and his wife Lady Margaret Graham. During her marriage to Sir John Logie († 1363) she was the mistress of the Scottish King David II (1324-1371). After the death of his first wife, Princess Johanna of England (1321-1362), he married Lady Margaret in 1364. After seven years of childless marriage, her husband, supported by the nobility, intended to divorce in order to marry his beloved Lady Agnes Dunbar . But it did not get that far, because the king died on February 22, 1371 at Edinburgh Castle . He was succeeded by his nephew and founder of the Stuart royal family in Scotland , King Robert II. Queen Margaret retired to Holyrood Abbey , where she died and was buried on January 31, 1375.
