Maria Ramberger

Maria Ramberger (born October 12, 1986 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian snowboarder in the A-squad of the Austrian Snowboard Cross Team and multiple national champion (2006, 2011, 2012, 2013).

Career

The athlete from Klosterneuburg started for Union Trendsport Weichberger in snowboard cross . At the age of seven she discovered snowboarding. A three-day course turned into a career. She drove her first race when she was twelve. In the 2002/03 season, the Lower Austrian competed in the European Cup for the first time. At first Ramberger drove in the parallel slalom and giant slalom. Good results in snowboard cross attracted her to specialize. On December 5, 2004, she won her first European Cup race in the parallel slalom in Nendaz, Switzerland . In March 2005, Ramberger won her first snowboard cross race in Italy . In the parallel ranking in the 2004/05 European Cup season, she finished third.

On January 5, 2004, Ramberger made his debut in the World Cup in Bad Gastein . In 2006 she showed up for the first time, in the final of the Junior World Championships she just missed a medal and won her first national title. In the 2007/08 season she took third place in the European Cup final and celebrated two victories of the season. From the 2008/09 season she was a permanent member of the World Cup team. In 2009 and 2011 she competed in snowboard cross at the Snowboard World Championships in South Korea and Spain . In 2010, she reached in her first participation in the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver the quarterfinals. In addition, Ramberger completed her law degree at the University of Vienna in 2010 . In the 2010/11 season she reached her previous top positions in the World Cup with two fifth places.

She finished the 2010/11 Snowboard World Cup in snowboard cross after seven competitions in ninth place. After the season she became Austrian champion in snowboard cross in March 2011. In December 2011 she celebrated her first World Cup success with her team colleague Susanne Moll in Montafon after they both won the team competition. In January 2013 she was eighth in snowboard cross at the World Championships in Stoneham, Canada and in early March 2013 she secured her fourth national title.

On October 12, 2016, her 30th birthday, Ramberger announced the end of her career via Facebook .
