In his third novel, he takes a critical look at the subjects of religion and belief, atheism , evolution and creationism .

Positions

In 2017, he wrote an article in the Süddeutsche Zeitung in which he dealt with the social and moral effects of global warming and other environmental problems . In it he called for an expansion of the concept of freedom , which includes the planetary limits . The philosophy of “being able to buy and sell everything that people want or think they need” is not only “irresponsible and anti-social” but also in the end in view of global warming, since humanity is no longer a great waste of resources could afford. There is also no right to this “freedom of consumption”. Rather, "the freedom of one [...] not only stops where the freedom of the other" begins, but "where it comes at the expense of the livelihoods of others", that is, of people in developing countries and of future generations.
