Marta Marrero (born January 16, 1983 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria ) is a former Spanish tennis player . She is the younger sister of professional tennis player David Marrero .

Career

Marrero started tennis at the age of seven and preferred the clay court. From 1997 she played on ITF tournaments.

In her tennis career, she won two WTA double titles. In 2000 she reached the quarter-finals of the French Open in singles , the following year she was in the second round of the Australian Open . Her best world ranking position in singles and doubles was 47th each.

Between 2002 and 2005 she had seven appearances for the Spanish Fed Cup team , of which she was able to win two.
