Martin Hundt

Martin Hundt (born July 13, 1932 in Wurzen ) is a Marxist historian .

Live and act

Martin Hundt's parents owned a stationery shop. He attended elementary school from 1939 to 1943 and the commercial school from 1943 to 1949 . He graduated from high school in Wurzen in 1951 . He studied journalism and newspaper studies (1951–1954) at the philosophical faculty of the Karl Marx University in Leipzig . His most important teachers were Wilhelm Eildermann and Hermann Budzislawski , with whom he worked for a year as an assistant. The Neue Rheinische Zeitung had his diploma thesis on the subject. For the next three years he was the business editor of Volksstimme in Karl-Marx-Stadt . From 1957 to January 1963 he was editor and member of the editorial board of the student newspaper "forum", which was published by the Central Council of the FDJ .

From March 1963 to 1991 Martin Hundt was a research assistant at the Institute for Marxism-Leninism at the Central Committee of the SED in Berlin. He worked on volume 27 of the Marx-Engels works . Since 1964 he has been involved in the preparation of the Marx-Engels Complete Edition (MEGA). Between 1965 and 1972 he was one of the staff on the MEGA rehearsal tape. On April 25, 1969, he received his doctorate as Dr. phil. about Louis Kugelmann . He was a member of the editorial committee of Department III of the MEGA, which includes the correspondence between Marx and Engels and with third parties. In 1981 he completed his habilitation ( Dr. sc. ) On the program discussion in the Union of the Just and was appointed full professor for the history of the labor movement in September 1981. He was in charge of the edition of the MEGA volumes, Department I. Volume 10 and 11 and Department I. Volume 14 and was a reviewer of the volumes in Department III. Volumes 1 to 5 and Section I Volume 18.

After 1990 he was involved in the founding process of IMES. In 1993 he worked on the revision of the edition guidelines.

He lives near Potsdam .
