In the 2002/03 season he started for the first time in the ski jumping World Cup after winning the Continental Cup competition in Lahti in Engelberg . In Switzerland he qualified for the main competition and after a 131- and a 125-meter jump ended up in second place behind Janne Ahonen . The next day he finished 18th and qualified for the Austrian team of the Four Hills Tournament . There he only finished 28th in the overall ranking and had to return to the Continental Cup due to the strong competition in his own team. In the Continental Cup he only showed average performance in the subsequent competitions.
It was not until December 2004 that he won the COC competition in Lahti again. But knee problems did not allow good performances for the rest of the season. After the World Cup season, he decided to undergo knee surgery.
After he was not in shape at the beginning of the Olympic season, he was able to slowly improve his form and at the end of January he won the Continental Cup competition in Braunlage and took third place in the overall COC ranking as the best Austrian.
Because of the strong performance at the end of the 2005/06 season , he was promoted to the A-squad and training group two. Here, however, he could not prevail against the big competition, so that at the beginning of the 2007/2008 season he was no longer part of the Austrian senior squad. Since then he has been working as a service technician for the ÖSV ski jumping team.
