Mathias Ullmann

Mathias Ullmann , also Ulli Ullmann as a musician , (* 1960 in Halle (Saale) ) is a German historian , book author and musician .

Life

Mathias Ullmann grew up in Leipzig . From 1981 to 1986 he studied African studies and history , and in 1989 he did his doctorate on the history of the African Gold Coast.
From 1989 to 1992 he worked at the University of Leipzig and from 1992 to 2003 at the Saxon Academy of Sciences in Leipzig, where he directed the edition of the writings of Ehrenfried Walther von Tschirnhaus .
He has been a freelance historian since 2004.
From 2011 to 2015 he was managing director of the foundation “ German Watch Museum Glashütte - Nicolas G. Hayek ”.

As a singer appeared in bands and as a street musician , u. a. in criminal case Dr. Schlueter .

As an author, he wrote the novels Jonathans Lied brennt (Projekt-Verlag Halle, 2006), Otto's Berg (VAT Mainz, 2010), the novel trilogy You will like me (VAT Mainz, 2012) and the texts for the illustrated books Leipzig from above - day und Nacht (k4Verlag Dresden, 2014) and Leipzig then and now. A photographic journey through time from 1873 to 2016 (k4Verlag Dresden, 2016).

Since 2015 he has been working as a tour guide specializing in Western Europe, North America and Africa. He runs a blog.
