The Meadow Park is a football stadium in the English town of Borehamwood , United Kingdom . It is owned by Boreham Wood Football Club , currently in the fifth-tier National League . There are 5,000 seats in the stands, 1,700 of which are in the main and opposite stands. In addition to the home club, other teams use the venue. The capital London is around 20 kilometers south of Borehamwood, Hertfordshire . The youth teams of Arsenal FC up to U-23 and the women of Arsenal Women FC use the area. The Watford FC with its reserve also tenants of the stadium.

history

In 1948 the Borehamwood Rovers and Royal Retournez merged into Boreham Wood FC. The club played its home game on Elson Avenue until 1963, before moving to the newly built Meadow Park. Today Meadow Park has main ( East Stand ) and counter stands ( West Stand ) on the long sides. The main tier covers only about half the length of the square and is in the middle. It offers 500 seats, was built in 1999 and replaced the old main grandstand from 1963. The West Stand with 1200 seats is a new building from 2014. The inauguration was carried out by Arsène Wenger , then coach of Arsenal FC. There are standing bars behind the gates. The covered north stand ( North Bank ) was inaugurated in 2019 after a new building. The south end ( South Terrace ) is equipped with uncovered standing room. In the southeast corner, a cell phone mast also serves as one of the four masts of the floodlight system . The fan shop is located in a temporary building in the northeast corner . A small, electric display board sits enthroned on it.

Arsenal Women FC have been using the Borehamwood stadium since it was founded in 1987 . In the 2006/07 season, the team against Umeå IK reached the finals of the UEFA Women's Cup , later the UEFA Women's Champions League . After a 1-0 win for the Londoners in the first leg at Gammliavallen in Umeå , the second leg took place in Meadow Park. With a 0-0 draw, the women of Arsenal secured the most important trophy in European women's football .

Record attendance and average attendance

For a friendly match between Arsenal FC and FC Boreham Wood (2-0) before the start of the season on July 13, 2001, 4030 spectators filled Meadow Park.
