final

Scene from the endgame

The first leg took place on May 17, the second leg on May 24, 2008. Both teams faced each other for the third time in the final.

First leg

After just twelve seconds of play, Marta, the world player of the year, put the host in the lead. The Brazilian took advantage of a carelessness of the Frankfurt back line and scored the fastest goal in UEFA Women's Cup history. The guests answered in the sixth minute. Petra Wimbersky prevailed on the left, crossed inwards, and Conny Pohlers equalized. In the following period, both teams delivered an open exchange of blows, in which the technical superiority of the Swedes became clear. Umeå created many opportunities in the second half, but failed because of the strong Silke Rottenberg in the Frankfurter Tor. The guests limited themselves to counter-football, but without creating any compelling opportunities.
