Mecidiye Order
The Mecidiye order , also Medschidié or Medjidie ( Ottoman مجیدی نشانی Mecîdî Nişanı ; coll. Mecidiye Nişanı ), was an Ottoman military and civil merit order founded by Sultan Abdülmecid I in 1852 as a reward for services rendered to the imperial government.
Order classes
It consisted of five classes, the number of members being limited with the exception of foreigners:
- 1st class - 50 holders
- II class - 150 holders
- III. Class - 800 holders
- IV class - 3,000 holders
- V class - 6,000 holders
Order decoration
The Order of characters consists of a golden medallion tughra the Sultan, surrounded by a purple tire with the exchange zeal loyalty reward . Seven brilliant rays emanate from the medallion, between which there is a golden crescent moon with the star. There is a larger golden crescent moon with a star above the decoration. The medal is worn on a purple, green-rimmed ribbon.
Carrying method
The first class was carried on a sash from the right shoulder to the left hip and with a breast star . The II. And III. Class decorated as a neck medal, with the second class also wore a breast star. 4th and 5th grades were worn on the ribbon on the left side of the chest.
