Megan Sweeney (born February 17, 1987 in Portland , Maine ) is a former American luge athlete .

Megan Sweeney won the bronze medal at the US Junior Championships in 2005, and won the title in 2006 and 2007. With the team she won the silver medal at the Junior World Championships in 2007. She made her World Cup debut in the last race of the 2006/07 season in Sigulda , where she finished eleventh. At the beginning of the following season , she finished seventh in Lake Placid, her first result in the top 10 in the World Cup, a second time she reached the top 10 this winter in Königssee . In the overall standings of the season Sweeney took 18th place, at the Luge World Championships 2008 in Oberhof she was 16. After she did not take part in the 2008/09 season , she returned the following season and finished with the eighth Place in Cesana Torinese - her third top 10 result in the World Cup. In the overall World Cup she was 14th. She also qualified for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , where she was 22nd. In August 2010, Sweeney announced her resignation.
