The World Cup season 2006/07 in luge started on 18 November 2006 at the Italian Cesana Torinese and ended on 18 February 2007 at the Latvian Sigulda . The highlight of the season was the 39th Luge World Championships from February 2nd to 4th, 2007 in Innsbruck-Igls, Austria .

With nine competitions, there were an unusually large number of dates this season. That was because an additional World Cup was held in Cesana in order to use the otherwise unprofitable toboggan run there in the post-Olympic winter. Four team competitions took place at the nine World Cup stations. For the first time in the history of the World Cup, the team relay was held. This new variant is intended to make the team competition more interesting for the audience and also serve as an advertisement for the inclusion of the team competition in the Olympic program.

With the resignation of Sylke Otto shortly before the World Cup in Oberhof , one of the most outstanding luge athletes of recent years said goodbye to the World Cup circus.
