history

Messhaus

Landgrave Friedrich II took up a plan by his grandfather Landgrave Karl in 1762 and initiated two masses. According to the announcement published on December 16, 1762 by the “Hochfürstliche Hessische Policey-Commission hierselbst”, the masses should take place in spring and autumn, always 14 days before the Frankfurt Easter and Michaelmas mass. On August 29, 1763, the first fair of its kind was opened in the “Berlepschen Haus”, which was declared a “ Messhaus ”. This measuring house was also the seat of the Commerz College , which also supervised the fair. The measuring house had to give way to the new building of the Kassel town hall in 1904.

In 1869 the freedom of trade was introduced, which found its public expression in the "General Industry Exhibition for the Entire Domestic Industry" held in 1870. This exhibition took place on the grounds of the Orangery Palace (today's Hessenkampfbahn ) and the Prussian King and later Emperor Wilhelm I was invited, who accepted the invitation on June 20, 1870.

The first exhibition in Kassel after the Second World War , the economic sponsor of which was the forerunner of today's Messe- und Ausstellung GmbH Hans-Joachim Hahne and who had taken over the patronage for the Lord Mayor Lauritz Lauritzen , was the Inventors and Novelties Exhibition from 18–18. 27. August 1961 in the Kassel town hall. This "German Inventors and Novelties Exhibition" was also organized as a consumer exhibition for innovations and had 24,000 visitors. The first housewives exhibition , which established the tradition of trade fairs and exhibitions and has been called the Autumn Exhibition since 1973 , took place for the first time from September 21 to 29, 1963 in the Kassel town hall.

Exhibitions

In addition to the regional spring and autumn exhibition, the most important trade fairs include the ANSPO , a fishing trade fair , the expo PetroTrans , an international trade fair for logistics , transport and handling in the mineral oil industry , and the RO-KA-TECH , the largest European trade fair for underground wastewater infrastructure .
