Mica Levi (born February 1987 in Surrey , United Kingdom ), also known under her pseudonym Micachu , is a British musician and composer .

Life

Levi was born in Surrey as the daughter of two musicians and was interested in music from an early age. As a young adult, she began working as a DJ in London under the stage name Micachu and released the mixtape Filthy Friends , which quickly enjoyed great popularity in the local club scene.

Levi is the founder of the band Micachu and the Shapes (now Good Sad Happy Bad ), with whom she also released several albums. She has also been working as a film music composer since 2013 and was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Film Music for the soundtrack to the film Jackie: The First Lady (2016) . At the 2014 European Film Awards , she won the award in the Best Film Music category for her work on Under the Skin .

In 2017 she was accepted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which awards the Oscars every year.
