Mike Callihan

Michael C. "Mike" Callihan (born August 7, 1947 in Spokane , Washington ) is an American politician . Between 1987 and 1994 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Colorado .

Career

Mike Callihan graduated from Regis High School in Denver and then studied at Western State College in Gunnison . He served in the United States Navy and then worked as a private businessman. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1979 and 1983 he was a member of the Colorado House of Representatives ; from 1983 to 1987 he was a member of the State Senate .

In 1986 Callihan was elected lieutenant governor of the state of Colorado alongside Roy Romer . He held this office between 1987 and 1994. He was Deputy Governor . In 1992 he ran for Congress , but was defeated by Republican Scott McInnis .
