Mike Hairston (born March 16, 1977 in Bad Hersfeld ) is a former 1.94 m tall German handball player . He was mostly only used in the attack, in the right back space.

The son of a former American soldier and a German mother began playing handball in his hometown of Bad Hersfeld. He came to MT Melsungen via SG Hessen Hersfeld , where he made his debut in the 2nd handball league . In 1999, Hairston was simultaneously given the right to double play for first division club TBV Lemgo ; however, he was the third man in the semi-left king position behind Daniel Stephan and Marc Baumgartner , so that in February 2001 he was loaned to the second division club VfL Pfullingen . Although he rose to the first division with the Swabians, he moved on to the second division club Eintracht Hildesheim in the summer. There he made it to the top German league again in 2006, but then hardly played because of a serious knee injury, so that in early 2007 he was loaned to the regional league club SV Alfeld for four months , which, however, had to be relegated to the top division . In the summer he returned to Eintracht Hildesheim, which had meanwhile been relegated to the second division, back, where he got more play again.

In the summer of 2008, Hairston retired from his professional career to focus more on his profession as a fitness trainer; In addition, he let his career end at HF Springe, with which he was promoted to the regional league in 2009. In 2010 he moved to HSG Badenstedt . After Hairston ran up for Lehrter SV in the 2011/2012 season, he ended his career.

Hairston has been training with SG Letter 05 since July 2015 and will be returning to the field there in the 2015/2016 season for some point games in the regional league!

In May 2011 he founded a sports agency that can professionally advise athletes in all areas. On 12 January 2015 he was a candidate in the RTL telecast Millionaire and won 16,000 euros.
