Modibo Keïta (born July 31, 1942 in Koulikoro ; † January 2, 2021 ) was a Malian politician who was Prime Minister of Mali in 2002 and between 2015 and 2017 .

Life

Keïta held the post of Minister of Labor and Civil Service in the government of President Moussa Traoré from 1982 to 1986 . In 1986 he took over the post of Foreign Minister from Alioune Blondin Beye as part of a cabinet reshuffle , which he held until he was replaced by N'Golo Traoré in 1989. He then acted as ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany between 1990 and 1992 .

Modibo Keïta was the successor to Mandé Sidibé from March 18, 2002 to June 8, 2002 for the first time Prime Minister of Mali and the last Prime Minister under President Alpha Oumar Konaré .

On January 8, 2015, he was reappointed Prime Minister of Mali to succeed Moussa Mara . On January 10, 2015, he presented his cabinet, which included Tieman Coulibaly as Defense Minister and Mamadou Diarra as Finance Minister, while Abdoulaye Diop remained Foreign Minister and Sada Samaké remained Minister for Internal Security. He held the post of Prime Minister until his replacement by Abdoulaye Idrissa Maïga on April 10, 2017.
