The 1952 NFL season was the 33rd season of the National Football League (NFL). The Detroit Lions emerged as the winners of this season .

For the first time this season, no team played primarily from the single-wing formation after the Pittsburgh Steelers exchanged them as the last team for the T formation . Before the season, the NFL had the franchise of the New York Yanks repurchased and later the franchise rights to a group of Dallas sold. They founded the Dallas Texans , but sold them back to the NFL after poor results in the middle of the season. They continued this as a purely away team for the last five games before they broke it up after the season. It was the last failed team in NFL history.

Play-offs

While Cleveland won the American Conference by one victory over the New York Giants , the Los Angeles Rams and Detroit Lions were tied with nine wins and three losses in the National Conference . Therefore, a play-off game for the National Conference was necessary that the Lions won against the Rams at home with 31:21. In the subsequent championship game, the Lions won again, this time away against the Browns 17: 7. It was the Lions' second championship since 1935 .
