Nahuel Lopez

Nahuel Lopez (born March 2, 1978 in Hamburg ) is a German-Chilean director and film producer .

Life

Nahuel Lopez completed an apprenticeship as an advertising clerk and then began studying political science in Hamburg. At the same time, he began working as a freelance journalist for various publishers such as Gruner & Jahr and the Milky Way publishing group. In 2005 he did an internship at the TV production company Cinecentrum (including "Soko Wismar" and NDR- "Tatort").

Lopez then worked as an editor for the ARD program "Beckmann" until 2009, after which he was editor-in-chief of the ZDF program "Markus Lanz". From 2007 to 2014 Lopez also wrote for the features section of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung . In 2013 his book "Paradise is Hell" was published about his trip to the Mapuche , the indigenous people of Chile.

He finally founded his own film production company with Granvista Media, with which he made advertising and image films (including Volvo, Zalando). His first feature film as a director is the documentary "El Viaje". In it he accompanied the musician Rodrigo González from Chile , bassist of the band Die Ärzte , on his search for his musical roots in Chile. In 2016 "El Viaje" opened in cinemas. The film was shown at festivals around the world. 2017 followed with 'Daniel Hope - The Sound of Life' Lopez 'second international movie about the British violinist Daniel Hope . The documentary had its world premiere at the Zurich Film Festival and celebrated its German premiere in Essen in October 2017. In the first week, the film entered the top 10 art house box office charts. In 2018 Nahuel Lopez published “Before the Bang”, a non-profit documentary about the G20 summit in Hamburg 2017 .

Lopez lives and works in Hamburg .
