Natalia Madaj (born January 25, 1988 in Piła ) is a Polish rower and Olympic champion.

Career

Natalia Madaj was the 2006 junior world champion in single . In 2007 she won the U23 World Championships in the same boat class . Also in 2007 she finished fifth at the European Championships with the Polish double foursome . In 2008 she and Magdalena Fularczyk were third in a double scull at the U23 World Championships. At the end of 2008, the two rowed the silver medal at the European Championships . In 2009 Madaj won the single title at the U23 World Championships, as in 2007. In the double scull she took third place with Agata Gramatyka at the 2009 European Championships . At her last start at the U23 World Championships, Madaj only finished fifth in the single in 2010. With the Polish quadruple, she also missed the medal ranks as fourth at the European Championships 2010 . In 2011 she reached eighth place with the Polish double foursome at the World Championships , at the European Championships the Polish women won the silver medal behind the Ukrainians. In 2012 the Polish quadruple won the qualifying regatta for the Olympic Games. At the Olympiaregatta , the Polish women finished eighth, as they did at the world championships last year. At the end of the Olympic season, as in the previous year, the Polish women received the silver medal behind the Ukrainians at the European Championships .

In 2013 Natalia Madaj moved back to Magdalena Fularczyk-Kozłowska in the double scull, who took second place behind the Lithuanian boat at the 2013 European Rowing Championships . In the 2013 World Cup season, Fularczyk-Kozłowska and Madaj competed in quadruples , and at the 2013 World Rowing Championships in Chungju , the Polish quadruple took third place. In 2014, Fularczyk-Kozłowska and Madaj returned to the double scull and won the title at the 2014 European Rowing Championships , and at the 2014 World Rowing Championships , the two Polish women won the silver medal behind New Zealand. In 2015, Fularczyk-Kozłowska and Madaj started in double sculls, and at the European Championships in Poznan they won the only gold medal for the host country. After the two Polish women qualified fourth at the 2015 World Championships for the 2016 Olympic Games, they won the 2016 World Cup regattas in Varese and Poznan. At the 2016 Olympic Games, the Polish women won the preliminary, semi-finals and finals.
