The Hessian Rhön Nature Park is located in the Rhön in East Hesse on the border with Thuringia and Bavaria and is 720.7 km² in size. Large parts of the nature park, along with those of the Bavarian Rhön Nature Park, are part of the transnational Rhön Biosphere Reserve .

Geography and landscape

The Hessian Rhön Nature Park is located in the north and west of the Rhön, north-north-east and east to south-south-west of the city of Fulda . It joins the Hessian Spessart Nature Park in the south-west and the Bavarian Rhön Nature Park in the east and south . Nearby in the west is the Vogelsberg . The nature park is characterized by mixed forests, rivers, lakes like the Guckaisee , moors, grassland and dry biotopes.
