Neu-Etzweiler is a district of the town of Elsdorf in the Rhein-Erft district , North Rhine-Westphalia .

Neu-Etzweiler is located north of Elsdorf. District road 38 runs east of the village. Federal road 55 runs past the northern edge of the village.

history

Neu-Etzweiler was created as a result of open -cast lignite mining . The former Etzweiler had to give way to the Hambach opencast mine . The district was created with the first groundbreaking near Angelsdorf in 1994. Rheinbraun created the infrastructure so that the residents from Etzweiler, 7 km away , could relocate here. The resettlement was officially completed in 2001. The steeple on the chapel was taken over from the old church in Etzweiler.
