News & Letters ( messages and letters ) is a social-revolutionary magazine in the United States and among the world's most prominent publications of humanist Marxism .

founding

It was founded in 1955 by the committees of the same name on the occasion of the wildcat strikes in the Detroit automobile industry and the bus boycott against racist segregation in order to act independently of parties within social movements .

Political orientation

Aligned with the humanistic Marxism of Raya Dunayevskaya , the philosophical writings of Karl Marx and Hegel , News & Letters pursues an anti-capitalist, anti-racist and feminist policy. Totalitarianism, it critically condemns Stalinism and capitalism as well as all religious fundamentalism and nationalism. The co-founder Raya Dunayevskaya had " turned away from Trotskyism and turned its attention to liberation movements in the Third World , minorities and workers movements independent of party communism and trade unions ".
