Nikola Žigić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Никола Жигић , born September 25, 1980 in Bačka Topola , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian football player and record scorer for the Serbian national team.
Žigić is a Serbian football striker. During the 2006 World Cup in Germany , he stormed alongside Mateja Kežman for the Serbian national team . He also played for the national team at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa .
He played for AIK Bačka Topola in his hometown from 1998 to 2002, then came to Red Star Belgrade in 2003 after a few other positions and finally moved to Spanish first division club Racing Santander in 2006 . In August 2007 he moved to Valencia CF for a transfer fee of around 20 million euros . At Valencia he was unable to build on his good times at Santander and was loaned to Santander again in January 2009 after a year and a half. There he found back to his old strength and was able to score five goals in the first seven games. On May 26, 2010 it was announced that Nikola Žigić was moving to Birmingham City for a transfer fee of 6 million pounds . There he signed until 2014.
