The Superliga Srbije (SLS) ( Serbian-Cyrillic : Супер лига Србије - СЛС, German : "Superliga Serbia"), usually Superliga , sometimes also Superliga Srbije or Superliga , is the top division in Serbian football . It was formed with the 2006/07 season after the dissolution of the Confederation of Serbia and Montenegro . Before that, the Prva liga was the top division. From the beginning of the 2008/2009 season until the end of the 2014/15 season, the main sponsor was Apatinska pivara , a brewery after its most famousBeer , the Jelen pivo , the league was officially called Jelen Superliga (JSL) .
Previously, Serbian clubs played in the competitions of the Kingdom of Serbia (1882-1918) and Yugoslavia (1918-2003), the most successful especially in the 1st Yugoslav League , which started in 1923 and lasted until 1992. After the dissolution of Socialist Yugoslavia , founded in 1945 in 1992, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was founded in the same year , which only consisted of the republics of Serbia and Montenegro . She kept the name of Yugoslavia until 2003 when the country changed its name to Serbia and Montenegro . This state union was however dissolved in 2006. Thus the best Serbian clubs played from 1992 to 2006 in the Prva liga of the Federal Republic or in that of Serbia and Montenegro.
After the dissolution of Socialist Yugoslavia, Serbia became the sole legal successor to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, which was founded in 1992. Thus, since 2006, the highest league has been exclusively intended for teams from Serbia, which has since been referred to as the Super League. Accordingly, all championship titles won by Serbian clubs from 1923 are counted in football ratings. The record champion is Roter Stern with 29 titles, followed by Partizan with 27 titles. The next better club is OFK Belgrade with five championship wins. Reigning Master is Red Star.
mode
Previous delivery modes
The game system has changed several times since the Superliga was founded on August 5, 2006. In the 2007/08 and 2008/09 seasons, a total of 33 game days were played in two parts during a championship year. In the first part, the normal season with 22 match days was played out, which was divided into a round-trip round, with all 12 clubs in the super league meeting each other twice on the basis of a schedule set before the season; once in your own stadium and once in the opponent's stadium. Then the pairings for eleven game days of a third round were drawn again. At the end of the 2007/08 season, the last two teams relegated directly to the Prva liga , while the tenth-placed team played a relegation game against the third-placed team from the Prva liga. From the 2009/10 season, the second part was omitted, so that only a round-trip round with a total of 30 game days was played. In the course of the transition from the previous system to the new one with 16 teams, only the last placed was relegated after the 2008/09 season, while the teams in the first five places in the Prva liga were promoted to the Superliga. The champions of the Super League started qualifying for the Champions League in the second round. The teams in second and third place also started qualifying for the Europa League in the second round, the national cup winners in the third.
In contrast to Germany, a maximum of 25 players must be licensed for the season at the beginning of the season and during the winter break. Players who exceed this squad size cannot participate in the game. In addition, two U21 players can be added to the extended squad.
Current competition mode
Since the 2015/16 season the league has consisted of 16 teams, but play-offs and play-outs were introduced after the regular season. The clubs initially compete against each other in the round two. The league is then divided into two finals, so that the teams in places 1 to 8 reach the championship round, in which they play for the championship in seven play-off games. The clubs in ranks 9 to 16 play in seven play-out games against relegation. The teams are credited with half of the points scored from the preliminary round, which was played in 30 match days, with half points rounded up. After all, by the end of the final round, each club will have played a total of 37 games.
Serbian SuperLiga (since 2006)
The state of Serbia has been independent since 2006 .
