Nikolai Michailowitsch Budarin ( Russian: Николай Михайлович Бударин ; born April 29, 1953 in Kirja , Chuvashia ) is a former Russian cosmonaut .

Space flights

Me EO-19

On June 27, 1995, Nikolai Budarin, part of the regular crew Mir EO-19, was the first Russian space novice to fly to Mir on a space shuttle . He returned to Earth on the Soyuz TM-21 spacecraft on September 11, 1995.

MIR EO-25

From January 30 to August 25, 1998 Budarin was a flight engineer for the regular crew Mir EO-25 on the Mir space station.

ISS expedition 6

From November 25, 2002 to May 3, 2003 he was on board the International Space Station as part of ISS Expedition 6 .

In 2007 he was elected to the Duma , the Russian parliament.
