Ninko

Emperor Ninkō ( Japanese 仁孝 天皇 , Ninkō-tennō ; * March 16, 1800 ; † February 21, 1846 ) was the 120th Tennō of Japan (1817-1846). His proper name was Ayahito ( 恵 仁 ).

Life

He was a son of Emperor Kokaku and Kanshūji Tadako ( 勧 修 寺 婧 子 ). He ruled from 1817 to 1846. But the real political power in Japan was the Tokugawa - shoguns in Edo .

Emperor Ninkō had seven wives:

  • Empress Takatsukasa Tsunako ( 鷹 司 繁 子 )
  • Empress Takatsukasa Yasuko ( 鷹 司 祺 子 )
  • Ōgimachi Naoko ( 正 親 町 雅子 )
  • Kanroji Kiyoko ( 甘露寺 妍 子 )
  • Hashimoto Tsuneko ( 橋本 経 子 )
  • Nakayama Isako ( 中山 績 子 )
  • Imaki Tatsuko ( 今 城 媋 子 )

With these he had seven sons and eight daughters. His grave is in Nochi no Tsukinowa no misasagi ( 後 月 輪 陵 ).
