The Nobilia-Werke J. Stickling GmbH & Co. KG is a German manufacturer of fitted kitchens . The company is based in Verl in East Westphalia ( Gütersloh district ) in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The company employs around 3,700 people and produces 33,300 kitchen cabinets daily on a total of 250,000 m² at the two production sites in Verl- Sürenheide and - Kaunitz . In 2018, Nobilia also produced over 1.69 million kitchen countertops .

Nobilia operates its own fleet of 200 trucks and 700 semi-trailers . The freight volume is around 2.84 million m³ annually. 49.8% of production is exported to over 90 countries worldwide.

history

In 1945 Johann and Willy Stickling OHG was founded in Verl. The two brothers Willy and Johann together with initially seven employees produced small furniture and sewing cabinets. In 1947 production was relocated to Avenwedde and the first kitchen buffets were made. In 1951 the construction of a second plant began in Avenwedde.

In 1956 the company was split. In the new plant in Avenwedde, Willy Stickling continued to produce under the Wista brand . Johann Stickling, however, continued to run the original company and specialized in the production of kitchens. In 1965 Johann handed over responsibility to his sons Heinz and Werner Stickling. In 1967 this company was renamed Nobilia-Werke J. Stickling GmbH & Co. KG , and the production of fitted kitchens began. In 1970 the first construction phase of the new plant in Verl-Sürenheide was completed. The production area was initially 7,000 m², but was expanded to 17,000 m² in 1972 and further to 24,000 m² in 1974. In 1976, another plant with 8000 m² production area for the manufacture of home furniture was built in Verl-Kaunitz. In 1977 there were 600 employees in all of the factories.

In 1982 a new administration building was built in Sürenheide, and in 1983 the exhibition center located there was completed. In 1985 production was relocated from the Avenwedde plant to Sürenheide and the plant in Avenwedde was leased . In 1989 the production area in Sürenheide was expanded to 75,000 m² and the production of home furniture in Kaunitz was sold.

A new office building with administration and training center as well as a two-story production hall with an additional 6000 m² area was built in 1993. In 1994 the company received certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001 . In addition, production increased to 1,000 kitchens per day. In 1995 another production hall was built and the production area increased to 105,000 m².

In 2006 the production area increased by a further 50,000 m² due to the commissioning of the plant in Verl-Kaunitz. In the meantime, the production area of ​​the second plant has increased to 140,000 m².
