Nordenbeck is one of the smallest districts of the district town of Korbach in the North Hessian district of Waldeck-Frankenberg and lies at the foot of the Eisenberg .

history

Mentioned in a document in 1036, Nordenbeck owned a moated castle before 1306 . The owners and builders of the castle were the Lords of Nordenbeck. In 1346 the castle came into the possession of the Lords of Viermünden .

On December 31, 1970, Nordenbeck was incorporated into the city of Korbach on a voluntary basis together with Nieder-Ense and Ober-Ense as part of the regional reform in Hesse . The municipality of Nordenbek had an area of ​​5.00 km².

Culture and sights

  • Nordenbeck Castle . The residential tower still preserved today was built in 1412. This has six floors, some of which are equipped with chimneys. It also contains a chapel with a bronze bell from the 13th century. It contains a defensive projectile with cannons. It was accessible via a drawbridge on the second floor. The residential buildings that once belonged to it were built around 1453. (The buildings and the tower are privately owned - a tour is not possible)
  • In addition, the castle's former manor house has been preserved.
