The Odeborn in the Hochsauerlandkreis and Kreis Siegen-Wittgenstein in North Rhine-Westphalia is a 21.2 km long, northern and orographically left tributary of the Eder .

course

The Odeborn rises in the Rothaar Mountains in the Hochsauerlandkreis in the Sauerland-Rothaar Mountains Nature Park . Its source is 1.3 km north-northeast of Mollseifen and 1.7 km (as the crow flies ) east-northeast of Neuastenberg am Wetzstein ( 771.6  m ) in the north-west and Bärenberg (approx.  746  m ) in the north-east at about 720  m above sea level. NHN .

Next to the source of an unnamed source brook / tributary of the Odeborn, which rises on the southeast slope of the Kahler Asten at Helleplatz ( 750.46 m / approx. 742  m height), there has been a marker stone with an information board  and a course sketch of the Odeborn and some tributaries since October 15, 2005 ; At Helleplatz , where a nameless tributary of the Sonneborn rises, there is a parking lot with a refuge on a common section of federal roads 236 and 480 . The inscription on the 4  t stone shows:

ODEBORNQUELLE headwaters

( 742  m above sea  level )
The Odeborn flows
in a SW direction
and after 22 km flows
into the Eder at Raumland
( 400  m above sea level )

Shortly after its origin, the Odeborn flows past the Postwiesen ski area and mainly southwards through mostly forested areas. It then flows through the Siegen-Wittgenstein district through the villages of Girkhausen , after which the Dödesbach coming from the north joins, and Wemlighausen , where the Schwarzenau flowing from the northeast joins . Further downstream, the stream reaches the town of Bad Berleburg , where it receives the Lausebach (Lause) coming from the north .

Then the Odeborn flows into Raumland (southern district of Bad Berleburg) a few meters south of the B 480 at an altitude of 400  m in the Eder , which consequently amounts to 320 and 342 m difference in altitude. The mouth of the Odeborn is located at the Eder river kilometer 144.8.
