Oliver Schnyder (born October 3, 1973 in Brugg ) is a Swiss pianist .

Life

Oliver Schnyder studied with Emmy Henz-Diémand (teaching and concert qualification diploma SMPV 1994), then up to the soloist diploma in 1998 in Homero Francesch's master class at the Zurich University of Music and Theater . It was followed by a short study with Ruth Laredo at the Manhattan School of Music in New York (1998) and 1998 to 2001 in the master class of Leon Fleisher in Baltimore (Graduate Performance Diploma, 2001).

Oliver Schnyder has been developing since his debut recital in 2000 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC and his solo debut in 2002 with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich under David Zinman on the occasion of the Orpheum Music Festival for the Promotion of Young Soloists Zurich (today : Orpheum - Young Soloists on Stage) a worldwide concert activity. Oliver Schnyder is the pianist of the Oliver Schnyder Trio , which he founded in 2012 with the violinist Andreas Janke and the cellist Benjamin Nyffenegger. The trio made its debut on February 4, 2012 in the Tonhalle Zurich with Schubert's Piano Trio No. 2 in E flat major . Cultural engagement

Together with cultural manager Thomas Pfiffner, Oliver Schnyder is the founder and artistic director of Piano District , which brings top-class pianists such as Radu Lupu , Emanuel Ax , Michail Pletnjow , Fazil Say , Kit to the "Druckerei Baden" (former printing company of the Badener Tagblatt , Switzerland) Armstrong , Yulianna Avdeeva , Angela Hewitt , Stephen Kovacevich , Christian Zacharias , Jan Lisiecki , Dmitry Masleev , Philippe Entremont , Paul Badura-Skoda , Janina Fialkowska , Richard Goode as well as the duos Tal & Groethuysen and Anderson & Roe. In 2016 Schnyder was director of the Ittingen Whitsun Concerts (founded by Andras Schiff and Heinz Holliger ), in 2018/2019 as successor to Reto Bieris director of the Davos Festival - Young Artists in Concert , and since 2019 he has been artistic director of the Lenzburgiade Klassik together with his wife Fränzi Frick & Folk International . Since 2016 Oliver Schnyder has been a lecturer in the piano major at the Kalaidos Music Academy in Zurich.
