Puerto Rico took part in the 1948 Summer Olympics in London with a delegation of nine male athletes in eight competitions in three sports. It was Puerto Rico's first participation in the Summer Olympics. The boxer Juan Venegas managed to win the only medal with bronze in the bantamweight.
