The Senegal took at the 1996 Olympic Games at the ninth time Summer Olympics in part. The team consisted of eleven athletes, all of whom were men. They started in eight competitions in three sports. The youngest participant was the athlete Oumar Loum with 22 years and 213, the oldest was Hachim N'Diaye with 32 years and 280 days, who also started in athletics. During the opening ceremony on July 19, 1996, Ibou Faye carried the flag of Senegal into the Olympic Stadium.
