The Orleans Parish ( French : Paroisse d'Orleans ) is a parish in the state of Louisiana in the United States . At the 2010 census , the Parish had 343,829 inhabitants and a population density of 735.3 people per square kilometer. The Parish Seat is New Orleans .

The Parish is located in southeast Louisiana on the Gulf of Mexico and has an area of ​​907 square kilometers, of which 439 square kilometers are water. It borders on the following parishes:

history

According to the 2000 census , Jones County had 484,674 people in 188,251 households and 112,977 families. The population density was 1,036.5 inhabitants per square kilometer.
