Oscar Isaac
Óscar Isaac Hernández Estrada (born March 9, 1979 in Guatemala ) is an American actor of Guatemalan origin. For his role as politician Nick Wasicsko in the miniseries Show Me a Hero , he received a Golden Globe for Best Actor in 2016 . He became known to a wide audience through his roles in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and as the eponymous antagonist in X-Men: Apocalypse .
Life
Oscar Isaac is the son of Cuban and Guatemalan , who in Miami ( Florida grew up). Isaac's family is of the evangelical faith. He also has Israeli and French roots. In his youth, Isaac was a member of The Blinking Underdogs , although he hardly achieved national fame with it. Because of his love for acting, he then attended the Juilliard School , from which he graduated in 2005. He made his film debut in 2002 in the action film All About the Benjamin alongside Ice Cube and Mike Epps .
He became known in 2006 when he embodied Joseph , Jesus' foster father, in the film adaptation of the Bible, It came to pass at the time ... In 2007 he received the Grace Award at the MovieGuide Awards for his portrayal . In 2008 he stood for the biopic Guerrilla by Steven Soderbergh on camera. In 2009 he played the future President of East Timor José Ramos-Horta in the Australian film Balibo . The film won an award for best Australian film of the year.
In addition to his work for film and television, Isaac is also on stage in Broadway productions, and in the summer of 2005 he was engaged by William Shakespeare for Two Gentlemen from Verona . In 2007 he was Romeo in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park . In the Coen brothers' film Inside Llewyn Davis , released in 2013, Isaac plays the lead role of the perennially melancholy folk singer Llewyn Davis, who is on the lookout for meaning in life. The film was presented at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013 and received positive feedback. In late April 2014 it was announced that he would take on a role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015, that of Resistance pilot Poe Dameron, whom he also played in Star Wars: The Last Jedi . In November 2014 it was announced that Isaac will play the eponymous villain and powerful original mutant Apocalypse in X-Men: Apocalypse .
In German dubbing he is mostly spoken by Alexander Doering or Julien Haggège . Florian Halm also lends him his voice in some films .
Private life
In February 2017 Isaac married the Danish director Elvira Lind. Two months later he had a son.
