Owen Marks

Owen Marks (born August 8, 1899 in Great Britain , † September 18, 1960 in Los Angeles , California , USA ) was a British - American film editor .

Life

Mark's first film was the 1924 comedy Listen Lester directed by William A. Seiter . From the end of the 1920s, regular engagements for well-known Hollywood productions followed, including The Petrified Forest (1936) and the Black Legion secret society (1937). In Chicago, Angels with Dirty Faces (1938), Marks first worked with director Michael Curtiz . Various other joint films were to follow, including a Queen's Favorite (1939) and the classic film Casablanca (1942), for whose editing he received an Oscar nomination . A year later, Marks was nominated again for an Oscar, again for a Curtiz film ( Janie ). Other productions in which Marks was used are The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) by John Huston and Beyond Eden (1955) by Elia Kazan . His last film was His Name Was Parrish (1961) under Delmer Daves before he passed away at the age of 61.
