Pandro S. Berman

Pandro Samuel Berman (born March 28, 1905 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania , † July 13, 1996 in Beverly Hills , Los Angeles , California ) was an American film producer .

Life

His father was a manager at Universal Pictures , and Pandro S. Berman grew up in direct contact with the film business. He took his first steps as an assistant director in the mid-1920s. He later worked as a film editor for FBO until he finally began producing films in the early 1930s. He worked for RKO Pictures until 1940 , but then switched to MGM . From 1963 he worked as an independent producer.

He was married to producer Kathryn Hereford from 1960 until her death. His brother Henry Berman worked as an editor in the film business and won an Oscar for Best Editing in 1967 with the Grand Prix .
