Pascal Bieler (born February 26, 1986 in Berlin ) is a former German soccer player and current coach, who has been under contract with Borussia Dortmund II since 2020 and who currently looks after the second men's team as an assistant coach.

Career

In the club

Bieler began playing soccer at the Berlin club SC Tegel and went to Hertha BSC at the age of 13 . At the age of 18, the left-back moved from youth to the second team , where he immediately became a regular. In his second year he was also included in the regional league team and was also included in the extended circle of the first team. In the 2006/07 season he was loaned to the second division Rot-Weiss Essen for a year , where he again immediately proved himself as a regular player. After returning to Hertha BSC he played again in the second team that played in the league was staying. At the beginning of the second half of the season on February 2, 2008, however, he played his first 90-minute Bundesliga game against Eintracht Frankfurt with the professional squad. He was also substituted on in five of the last six games of the season.

For the 2008/09 season , Bieler left the capital club and moved again to the 2nd division for Bundesliga relegated 1. FC Nürnberg . There he first played in the fourth division team and then came regularly from the 13th matchday in the first team to train. On April 19, 2009, he headed his first goal in professional football to take the lead in the 2-0 win over FC St. Pauli . After 14 league and two relegation games , he was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga at the end of the season with FCN and was by far the most successful defense in the 2nd division this season.

In the 2009/10 season , Bieler was only the third left full-back behind Javier Pinola and Juri Judt and therefore only made three appearances, but all of them played for the full time. He succeeded in an assist against Eintracht Frankfurt. When in the second leg of the relegation the entire right-hand defense failed, he was used there again for over 90 minutes and contributed to staying up. But even in his third year with the Franconians , he was unable to establish himself in the Bundesliga, but was no longer used in the second half of the season after four appearances. His contract with FCN was not renewed in 2011 and so Bieler moved to third division club SV Wehen Wiesbaden for the 2011/12 season , where he received a contract until June 30, 2013.

After the end of his contract, Bieler moved to Würzburger Kickers in the Regionalliga Bayern in June 2013 . In his first season, Bieler was able to win the Bavarian State Cup with the Kickers . After promotion to the 3rd division , Bieler moved to the regional division Wacker Nordhausen . For the 2016/17 season he joined the Wuppertaler SV in the fourth-class Regionalliga West . After only seven games for Wuppertaler SV, Bieler ended his active career in the winter of 2016 and took over the U19 coaching position at the club.

National team

Pascal Bieler became a youth national player during his time at Hertha BSC. After various missions in the individual years, he took part in the U-19 selection at the 2005 European Championships in Northern Ireland in July 2005 and was eliminated there in the semi-finals against France . A year later, on August 15, 2006, Bieler played his first game in the German U21 national team . Ten more appearances followed before he played his last game against Denmark in 2008. He scored his only goal in over 50 national junior games in 2006 against the U-20 team in Austria .

Career as a coach

After the end of his active career, Bieler was still under contract as a coach at his last club, Wuppertaler SV . Since 2016 he has looked after the U19s of the club, first as co-coach, then also as head coach. In March 2019 he took over the position of head coach of the regional league team from the dismissed Adrian Alipour on an interim basis until the end of the season . Since July 2020 he has been in charge of Borussia Dortmund's second men's team as an assistant coach.
