Patrick Neumann (born December 2, 1980 in Bielefeld ) is a German football player .

Career

He started with SV Lippstadt 08 and with the amateurs of Arminia Bielefeld . From 2003 to 2006 he was a player for Sportfreunde Siegen . During this time he also had his only appearance in the 2nd Bundesliga . The contract was terminated prematurely in January 2006 when Neumann moved back to SV Lippstadt 08. For the 2008/09 season he moved to SC Verl .

On November 24th, 2009 Neumann was suspended at SC Verl because he was suspected of being involved in the soccer betting scandal in 2009. On November 28th, 2009 he confessed to the Bochum public prosecutor that he had received 500 euros and was the first professional to make a confession Betting scandal. However, he continues to deny having actively manipulated it.

In January 2011, however, Neumann was sentenced by the sports court of the DFB to a ban of two years and nine months for match manipulation. The start of the suspension was dated November 24, 2009, so Neumann could play again on August 23, 2012 at the earliest.

Neumann now plays in the district league B in Bielefeld at the TuS Hoberge-Uerentrup district club .
