Pauline Heßler (born September 13, 1998 ) is a German ski jumper .

Career

Pauline Heßler grew up in Lauscha, Thuringia . She has been active in the winter sports club 1908 Lauscha since 2004, where she was discovered and promoted by youth trainer Jens Greiner-Hiero . On the recommendation of WSV 08 Lauscha, she learns and trains at the ski boarding school in Oberstdorf.

At the German Championships 2010 in Oberhof , she jumped to 14th place. On August 14, 2010, she made her debut in the Continental Cup in Bischofsgrün and jumped to 55th place. In the Ladies Cup 2011 she came second in August and September and came in eighth place in the overall ranking in the pupil category. At the German Championships in 2011 in Meinerzhagen , she was ninth. In 2012 she won the gold medal at the OPA games in Žiri / Pokljuka , was also German student champion and celebrated a double victory in the student cup in October. At the German Junior Championships 2012 in Hinterzarten , she jumped to seventh place. In the Alpencup season 2012/13 she jumped in midfield results in summer, she also made her debut in the FIS Cup on July 14, 2012 . At the Junior World Championships in 2013 , she won bronze in the team competition with her teammates Ramona Straub , Svenja Würth and Katharina Althaus . In the following Continental Cup season , she only achieved single-digit placements in her three appearances, which meant she was fifth in the overall ranking. On August 15, 2013 she came to her first use in the Summer Grand Prix in Courchevel , where she finished 41st place. In September she starts in the Continental Cup and reached 7th place again on September 15, 2013 in Lillehammer.

Before the start of the 2013/14 winter season, Heßler tore a cruciate ligament in a training fall in Seefeld, Austria , which resulted in a forced break of several months. In August 2014 she started in the Alpencup in Bischofsgrün , and on September 26th she achieved her first victory in this competition in Tschagguns , Austria. On December 5, 2014, she made her debut in the World Cup in Lillehammer and achieved her first points with rank 23. She started again in the Alpencup and took her second victory on January 17th, 2015 in Oberwiesenthal . In the World Cup on January 24th in Oberstdorf, she finished 28th again in the points.

At the Junior World Championships in Almaty , Pauline Heßler and her teammates Henriette Kraus , Anna Rupprecht and Gianina Ernst won gold in the team competition. In the individual competition, she finished eighth. She started in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup 2015/16 and came second on December 12, 2015 in Notodden , Norway. In the OPA Alpine Cup on January 15 and 16, 2016 in Oberwiesenthal, she was the winner and second. Then she had missions in the World Cup , in which she was on January 30th and 31st in Oberstdorf with places 20 and 24, on February 6 and 7 in Hinzenbach with ranks 28 and 25, on February 14th in Ljubno with rank 23 and on February 19 in Lahti with 26th place. At her third Junior World Championships in Rasnov , she finished 19th in the individual. At the end of the season, she finished 5th in the Alpencup in Baiersbronn on March 19 and 20, 2016.

At the 2017 Junior World Championships in Park City , Utah , Heßler won the gold medal in the team competition together with Agnes Reisch , Luisa Görlich and Gianina Ernst . In the individual competition, she took tenth place.

After the World Cup in Pyeongchang on February 15 and 16, 2017 (18th and 21st place), she temporarily withdrew from the competition. Encouraged by her family, she managed to return to the World Cup squad after convincing performances in the FIS Cup, the Continental Cup and the Summer Grand Prix 2018. In Lillehammer from November 30 to December 2, 2018, she again collected World Cup points with placements 25 (HS 98) and 24 (HS 140).

In the 2018/19 World Cup season , Heßler was an integral part of the German team. On February 23, 2019, she started in the Continental Cup for the first time this season . She was able to celebrate her first Continental Cup victory at the competition on the Inselbergschanze in Brotterode .
