Peter-John Vettese (born August 15, 1956 in Scotland ; occasionally Peter Vettese ) is a British musician, composer and record producer . From 1982 to 1985, as well as from 1986 and 1989, he was the keyboardist for the progressive rock band Jethro Tull .

Life

At the age of nine, Peter-John Vettese already played as a pianist in his father's band, who came from Italy. At the age of 17 he became a member of a big band , which he had to leave because he had rehearsed with his own band. He founded the fusion band Solaris with guitarist Jim Condie . He then played with the band RAF, short for "Rich and Famous". In 1982 he became keyboardist for the progressive rock band Jethro Tull through an advertisement in Melody Maker magazine . He played with the band on the album The Broadsword and the Beast , on which he also contributed compositional material, and went on tour. When Vettee joined the band, the proportion of synthesizer- accompanied music increased. In 1983 he recorded his first solo album Walk into Light with band founder Ian Anderson , followed in 1984 by the Jethro Tull album Under Wraps , which was partly criticized because of the dominance of synthesizers and drum computers. On the following tour, the album Live at Hammersmith '84 was created, which was released in 1990. In 1986 he went on tour with the band again. In 1989 he played as a guest musician on the Jethro Tull album Rock Island .

He had already started his own business in 1985 and from then on worked as a songwriter , arranger and music producer for numerous musicians, including Frankie Goes To Hollywood , the Pet Shop Boys , Foreigner , the Bee Gees , Carly Simon , Annie Lennox and Clannad , and later for the Simple Minds , Mel C , Dido and Gary Barlow . He owns a studio in Battersea and composes film music there .
