Peter Borgelt
Peter Borgelt (born September 20, 1927 in Rostock , † March 18, 1994 in Berlin ) was a German film and theater actor.
life and work
Peter Borgelt was born into a family of artists in Rostock. His father Paul Borgelt (born February 16, 1887 in Osnabrück; † August 28, 1971 in Bad Pyrmont) was an actor and his mother Thea Krumreich was a singer (born December 3, 1900 in Rostock; † July 23, 1993). You worked on different stages.
After the end of the Second World War , Borgelt began an apprenticeship as a construction worker, then he wanted to become a composer and enrolled at the conservatory in Kamenz . During his studies he worked as a temporary worker at the district theater in Burgstädt , suddenly found pleasure in the profession of actor and took private acting lessons, before in 1950 - after passing his examination - he received an engagement at the Burgstädter Theater at the side of his father. After further stages in Meiningen , Halberstadt , Magdeburg , Leipzig and Schwerin , he came to the German Theater Berlin in 1967 . The character actor was a member of the ensemble there until his death in 1994. Borgelt was last seen on stage in Der Turm von Hofmannsthal and Der Wald von Ostrowski .
Borgelt had his first television appearance in the GDR music program Klock 8, aft Strom . The role of ' Oberleutnant Fuchs', from the end of 1978 ' Hauptmann Fuchs', and from episode 142 “ Unter Brüdern ” as Kriminalhauptkommissar in the GDR crime series Polizeiruf 110 , in which he played 84 episodes from 1971 to 1991, made him famous . The series became known beyond the borders of the GDR. Borgelt was known for his thoughtful and calm manner as well as his sonorous voice. A magazine called him the "East German Maigret " and compared Borgelt with Jean Gabin .
In the GDR Saturday evening program Klock 8, aft Strom he acted as a host for a few years and also played the sailor Kuddeldaddelich.
From 1985 Peter Borgelt was UNICEF ambassador for the GDR for a while .
On March 18, 1994, at the age of 66, he died of cancer. He is buried in the cemetery in Berlin-Karlshorst .
Borgelt was married three times, he has two sons and a daughter. The journalist and author Hans Borgelt was a cousin of his.
