Peter McDonald (actor)

Peter McDonald (born January 28, 1972 in Dublin , Ireland ) is an Irish actor and director for film, television and theater. His short film Pentecost was nominated for an Oscar in 2012 .

Life

Peter McDonald grew up in Mount Merrion , South Dublin. His mother Brenda Costigon is a cookbook author. He graduated from Trinity College in Dublin and then studied English at University College Dublin , graduating with a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Fine Arts in English. He began to play theater at university, then worked for the "Fly By Nights Theater Company", where he appeared in several plays by Conor McPherson .

His film career started in 1997 with Tough Boys . He has also appeared in several television series . In 2000 he won the Irish Film and Television Awards for Best Actor for the film Saltwater .

In 2011 he made the short film Pentecost , which was nominated for an Oscar in 2012.
