Petro Trad

Petro Trad ( Arabic بيترو طراد, * 1886 in Beirut ; † 1947 ) was a Lebanese politician of the Greek Orthodox faith. He was President of Lebanon from July to September 1943 .

Trad had completed his law studies in Paris at the French University of Paris in 1900 and had been a member of the Lebanese parliament since 1922 . His predecessor as President of Lebanon, Ayub Thabit , got caught in the power struggle between the Muslim and Christian parties during his short term in office and was deposed by the military government of Free France under Jean Helleu . As a moderate Christian politician, Trad was installed as president from July 22 to September 21, 1943 until elections were held. From August 1 to September 25, 1943, he was also Prime Minister of Lebanon .

He was also President of Parliament from November 10, 1934 to October 21, 1935, and from October 29, 1937 to September 21, 1939.
