Phoebe Waller-Bridge
Phoebe Mary Waller-Bridge (born July 14, 1985 in London ) is a British actress , playwright and screenwriter .
Life
Phoebe Waller-Bridge was born in 1985 in London to Teresa Mary Waller-Bridge (née Clerke) and Michael Cyprian Waller-Bridge. She has an older sister named Isobel Waller-Bridge (* 1984), who works as a composer, and a younger brother (* 1987). Waller Bridge grew up in the West London borough of Ealing . She studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art .
In 2007 she founded the DryWrite Theater Company with Vicky Jones, of which she is co-artistic director.
Waller-Bridge made her theatrical debut in 2009 in Roaring Trade at the Soho Theater. In the same year she had her first role in the television series Doctors . In 2011 she had minor supporting roles in the films Albert Nobbs and Die Eiserne Lady . She made her West End debut in the play Hay Fever , before her final breakthrough in the theater with her role in Mydidae . From 2011 to 2013 Waller-Bridge was seen in the television series The Cafe . Her theater group DryWrite , which she co-directs and for which she has written plays such as Fleabag as a playwright , has been an Associate Company of the Soho Theater since 2013 .
2015 followed a role in the series Broadchurch . The following year she appeared in the two comedy series Crashing and Fleabag , for which she had also written the scripts. The latter was based on their play of the same name. Waller-Bridge has received numerous awards for Fleabag , including the 2017 British Academy Television Award for Best Actress, the British Screenwriters' Award and the Acting Award of the Festival de Télévision de Monte-Carlo (2017). In 2019, Fleabag was awarded six Emmys , including best comedy series and Waller-Bridge as leading actress and screenwriter.
For the film James Bond 007: No Time to Die , she was recommended by lead actor Daniel Craig as a screenwriter and was primarily responsible for the dialogues of the female roles. Her share of the script was later increased and she herself reportedly hired as a screenwriter for the still untitled 26th James Bond film.
She was married to documentary filmmaker and television presenter Conor Woodman from 2014 to 2018 . She has been in a relationship with the playwright Martin McDonagh since spring 2018 . Waller-Bridge lives in the Kensal Rise district of London .
