Pierre Marie Joseph Cardinal Veuillot (born January 5, 1913 in Paris , † February 14, 1968 there ) was Archbishop of Paris .

Life

Pierre Veuillot received his philosophical and theological seminary training Des Carmes in Paris and received on 26 March 1939, the sacrament of Holy Orders . He then worked as a pastor and teacher in Paris before entering the service of the Vatican State Secretariat in 1949 .

1959 appointed Pope John XXIII. Pierre Veuillot as Bishop of Angers . He was ordained bishop on July 1, 1959, by the Archbishop of Paris, Maurice Cardinal Feltin ; Co - consecrators were Marc-Armand Lallier , Archbishop of Marseille , and Jean-Marie Villot , Auxiliary Bishop in Paris at the time . In 1961 Pierre Veuillot was titular Archbishop of Constantia in Thracia ( pro hac vice ) and Coadjutor Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Paris, 1966 Archbishop of Paris. He attended the Second Vatican Council from 1962 to 1965 . Pope Paul VI took him on June 20, 1967 as a cardinal priest with the titular Church of San Luigi dei Francesi in the college of cardinals .

Pierre Veuillot died of leukemia on February 14, 1968 and was buried in the Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral.
