Pietro Ferraris (born February 15, 1912 in Vercelli , † October 11, 1991 ) was an Italian football player .

Pietro Ferraris was not related or related by marriage to Attilio Ferraris . Since there were several players with the surname Ferraris during his active time, he often appears in statistics as Ferraris II .

Career

In the club

Pietro Ferraris began his career at the largest club in his hometown, Pro Vercelli , for whom he made his Serie A debut on November 10, 1929, at the age of 17, in the 3-1 defeat against Triestina . After three seasons as a regular at Pro Vercelli, Ferraris II moved to SSC Napoli in southern Italy for the 1932/33 season , where he played for four years.

In the summer of 1936 Ferraris went to Ambrosiana-Inter in Milan for five years . There he played in Sturm at the side of the absolute superstar of the time, Giuseppe Meazza , and scored 43 goals in 139 Serie A games. With Inter he also won his first two Scudetti , in 1937/38 and 1939/40 and in 1939 the Coppa Italia .

For the 1941/42 season Pietro Ferraris left Milan and returned to his Piedmontese homeland for AC Turin . In the following years he was an integral part of the team that dominated Italian football for almost a full decade and went down in history as Grande Torino . In 1942/43 he won his third championship title with the Toro , after which there was no game operation in Serie A for two years because of the Second World War . The 1944 war championship ended Ferraris II with Torino in second place. After the championship was resumed, Pietro Ferraris won his championship titles number four to six at AC Turin between 1946 and 1948 .

In the summer of 1948 Ferraris went to Serie A rivals Novara Calcio , where he ended his active career in 1950. Moving to Novara saved his life in all likelihood, as the Grande Torino crew was completely wiped out on May 4, 1949 in the Superga plane crash ( Superga tragedy ).

Pietro Ferraris made a total of 469 Serie A games in his career and scored 123 goals.
