Pilitrud
Pilitrud († around 730) was the wife of two Bavarian dukes from the Agilolfinger family .
Life
Her ancestry is unclear, but it is believed that she was Agilolfinger herself.
Her first husband was Theudebald , who had previously been married to Waltrat . After Theudebald's death, she married his brother Grimoald . This marriage, however, met with disapproval from the Catholic clergy, especially the missionary Korbinian .
When Karl Martell led and won a campaign against the Bavarian Duke Grimoald, he took his wife Pilitrud and her niece Swanahild with him into his kingdom in 725 ; But then he decided on the younger Swanahild and took her to his second wife. According to the Vita Corbiniani , Pilitrud lost all power and dignity and had to go to Italy on a donkey cart, where she died. All of Pilitrud's descendants died as children.
