Pluto the Hound is an American animated short film directed by Clyde Geronimi from 1939. An alternate title for the film is Pluto's hunting instinct .
action
Mickey Mouse and his dog Pluto go quail hunting in the forest . At their tent they laughingly throw away a can of beans, hoping to be able to eat a roast in the evening. During the hunt, Pluto should follow the basic rule of all hunting dogs written in the book How to Train a Pointer : stay calm and do not move. When the two of them stalk a quail family, however, Pluto forgets himself and with his impetuous manner chases away all the birds. Mickey is furious, but shows Pluto again how a good hound keeps still.
The second attempt at stalking begins and Pluto is distracted by a worm and follows it. Micky, on the other hand, is now being followed unnoticed by a huge bear, who is always treated and rebuked like a dog when he tries to attack Micky. Meanwhile, Pluto has discovered the quail family, but remembers to stand still and is downright petrified in their vicinity. The quail chicks do gymnastics on him and soon other animals of the forest join Pluto.
Micky finally appears at his dog and is amazed. He realizes that it is impossible for Pluto to stand behind him and promptly looks into the bear's open jaws. Together with Pluto the hasty escape takes place back to the tent. There they find the can of beans in the torchlight and are relieved.
production
Pluto the Hound was released on July 21, 1939 as part of the Disney cartoon series Mickey Mouse . It was the first film to show Micky after being redesigned by Fred Moore . The mouse now had pupils, among other things.
