Purugua ( Purogoa , Purugoa ) is an East Timorese suco in the administrative office of Cailaco ( Bobonaro municipality ).

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Purugua had an area of ​​67.17 km². Now there are 67.42 km². The Suco is located in the north of the administrative office of Cailaco. In the south are the Sucos Dau Udo and Atudara , which also belong to Cailaco . To the west of the Nunura River is the Atabae administrative office with its sucos Hataz and Atabae . To the north and east, beyond the Marobo, lies the administrative office of Hatulia, belonging to the municipality of Ermera, with its sucos Aculau , Ailelo , Samara and Leimea-Craic . Several rivers have their source in the Suco Purugua and flow into the Nunura. From south to north these are the Lesupu (border river to Atudara), Claola and Utobato . The Aideno flows into the Utobato. At the northern tip, Nunura and Marobo flow together and form the Lóis . Due to its tributaries, the Lóis is the longest river in the country.

The overland road from Maliana to Hatolia Vila first runs through the west of the Sucos, near the Nunura, before turning north to east. Bridges lead over Marobo, Utobato and Claola. The towns of Banedole , Lesupu , Heda , Suribu Turema ( Turema ), Ritiogoro , Banegoa and Bilimau are located on the main road from south to north . South of the Claola also are the villages Abuti ( Abuli ) and Sabarakalara . Aimia is located in the north near Banegoa . There are primary schools in Banedole, Lesupu ( Escola Primaria Purugua ), Suribu Turema and Bilimau ( Escola Primaria Bilimau ). Bilimau also has a medical station.

The two Aldeias Heda and Lesupu are located in the Suco .

Residents

931 inhabitants live in the Suco (2015), of which 472 are men and 459 women. The population density is 13.8 inhabitants / km². There are 169 households in the Suco. Over 95% of the population name Kemak as their mother tongue. Small minorities speak Bunak or Tetum Prasa .

During the Indonesian occupation (1975 to 1999) there was an Indonesian military base in Purugua .

politics

In the elections of 2004/2005 was Albertino (Aubertino?) Mau Laca elected Chefe de Suco and in 2009 re-elected.
